RIDGER, John Loton

1920 - 2016

Born at Reigate, Surrey in November 1920, son of Arthur Loton Ridger (3 January 1886-1940), a merchant, and his wife Veronica née Hynam (born 30 June 1889), who married at Paddington, London in 1920 and in 1939 was living at 98 Anderton Park Road, Birmingham when his father was at Camberwell House Mental Hospital, Peckham Road, Camberwell, London. In 1924, together with his 38 year old father and 25 year old mother, when of Barn Hill, Stamford, sailed from Bristol on the 'Cavina' for British Honduras. A retired headmaster and a Friend at Ipswich Art Society he exhibited from Dove Yard, Tacon Close, Eye, Suffolk in 2006, two oil paintings 'Still Life with Water' and 'Aging Sunflowers' and was also a member of the Eye Arts Guild from the same address in 2013. He married secondly in the Depwade district of Suffolk in 1992, Cynthia M. May [q.v.]. He died on 9 February 2016, being survived by his wife and children.
