COUGHLAN, Shirley Lyall

Born 26 February 1932. Educated at Colchester County High School for Girls and studied at Colchester School of Art 1949-1951 and at London University, Institute of Education 1953-1954 and studied under John O'Connor [q.v.] Blair Hughes-Stanton [q.v.] and Carel Weight (1908-1997) gaining a National Diploma in Design in 1953 and an Art Teachers' Certificate the following year. Her work is in printmaking, drawing, painting, ceramics, textiles and collages and has exhibited at Young Contemporaries; Laing; Eastern Open, Kings Lynn; Gainsborough House, Sudbury; and elsewhere. As Shirley Lyall Moody, she married at Ipswich in 1974, Patrick James Coughlan and works under the name of Shirley Coughlan. She exhibited at the Ipswich Art Society from 26 Warrington Road, Ipswich in 1997 'Variations'.
