Karenza Jackson

As Karenza Mugleston, she was born in the Chelmsford district in 1955, daughter of John B. Mugleston (born 1924) and his wife Margaret née Kinipple, who married at Dunmow, Essex in 1952. Karenza married in the Epping district in 1975, Marc D. Jackson and works under the name of Karenza Jackson. Karenza took an Art Foundation Diploma from Colchester School of Art in 1994 and a BA Honours Degree in Fine Art from Suffolk College/UEA in 2005. During her time at college she investigated portraiture, working in various media including plaster which led to the opportunity to paint well-known DJ John Peel and his wife Sheila. After university she continued to experiment and develop her work, underpinning it with printmaking and regular life drawing sessions in Sudbury, Suffolk. Figures and groups of people, together with still life, became were her main subject matter, but now features more landscape works. Drawing remains central to her practice, but other media also play a part in the form of line, texture, pattern and colour. She has exhibited at The Ipswich School of Art; Peter Pears Gallery, Aldeburgh; Gainsborough's House Print Exhibitions, Sudbury; Dove Barn, Groton, Near Sudbury; Colchester Art Society Fine Art Open, Minories, Colchester; Benham Gallery, Cuckoo Farm Studios, Boxted; Beecroft Gallery, Southend; Foulkes-Miller Gallery, Long Melford and many other venues. She has her studio at The Old School, Bures Road, White Colne, Colchester.
