Richard Kimmerling

Richard Leaf Kimmerling was born in Surrey in 1946, son of Roger Charles Kimmerling (4 July 1905-12 April 1991), an engineer, and his wife Mary Eirene née Grimmond (1 February 1906-23 April 1989), who married in Surrey Southwest in 1937 and in 1939 were living at 24 Buckland Waterden Road, Guildford, Surrey. Richard married at Saffron Walden, Essex in 1967, Gillian S. Bateman. He graduated from Cambridge University in 1975 and taught English in Secondary schools in East Anglia 1976-1995 and in 2004, Richard graduated from Ipswich School of Art. Having lived and worked in East Anglia since childhood, his art is firmly rooted in its landscape and his smallholding at 'Little Barton', School Road, Knodishall, Suffolk, where he and his wife had lived for 35 years, gave him a direct engagement with the landscape and made him conscious of just how big a part it has played in his life. An old-fashioned printmaker, making etchings and lithographs and indulging in his passion for drawing and painting. Richard has exhibited with the Contemporary Art Society and the Royal Society of British Artists at the Mall Galleries, London, and in both public and private galleries and is represented by Cobbold & Judd; Buckenham Galleries, Southwold and Snape Maltings Galleries, Snape.
