Priscilla Lamont

As Priscilla M. Clive, she was born at Eton, Buckinghamshire in 1948, daughter of Norman Clive and his wife Ione Margery née Clark (29 May 1920-1984), who married at Marylebone, London in 1947, and Priscilla spent her childhood in Berkshire. Priscilla married in 1975, Andrew J. Lamont and paints under the name of Priscilla Lamont. After a Foundation year at Birmingham School of Art, Priscilla studied graphic design and illustration at Canterbury College of Art, now the University for the Creative Arts and linked with Medway and Farnham, graduating in 1971, with a degree in Graphic design. After spending a few years as a book designer, Priscilla began to work as a freelance artist, and has illustrated over forty children's books for a variety of authors, including Harry Secombe, Adrian Mitchell, Julia Jarman, Michael Rosen and Hilary McKay. After living in London, she spent time at 152 High Street, Aldeburgh before moving to Woodbridge, both in Suffolk, from where she exhibited at Chris Beetles Gallery in London, and from where she also works on commission. Priscilla is now settled in Canterbury, Kent with a new husband, artist David W. Hayward and has a studio at the Creek Creative building in Faversham.
