SEDGWICK, Christine

As Christine Sykes, she was born at Thanet, Kent in 1928, daughter of Ernest Sykes (born 1 July 1891), an Inland Revenue valuation clerk, and his wife Dora née Broadbent (1 June 1896-1991), who married at Huddersfield, Yorkshire in 1927 and in 1939 were living at 144 West Way, Bournemouth. Christine married at Bromley, Kent in 1951, Jorgen Francis Sedgwick (1927-2008) [q.v.] and their daughter Anna is also an artist. Christine was teaching part-time in Adult Education in London but now works as a full-time painter and printmaker. An artist exhibiting and working to commission, her art forms include visual art, printmaking in all types of paint including landscape, the sea flowing water and fantasy developed through drawings and photographs, often from observation, occasionally composite. She exhibits regularly in London and East Anglia including a series of monoprints and oil paintings about the movement and refraction of water, the subject being 'Bathers' and exhibits at Suffolk ACRE Art Exhibtions. Her studio is at Lytton Cottage, The Street, Holton St Peter, Halesworth, Suffolk.
