As Kay Cocksedge, she was born at Ipswich in 1955, daughter of Kenneth F. Cocksedge and his wife Sylvia I. née Brock, who married at Ipswich in 1949. After school she studied on a teacher training course specialising in art and design at Goldsmiths' College, London. She married at Ipswich in 1976, Peter D. Lucas and paints under name of Kay Lucas. In 1999 Kay and her family moved back to Suffolk when she decided to retire from the teaching profession to concentrate on her artwork. Kay paints mainly atmospheric scenes of East coast estuaries, as well as boats and their reflections, her favoured medium is pastel getting her inspiration from the local estuaries and wide open skies and is now painting abstract work in acrylic. A member of Mellis Arts with a studio at Hollyhocks, 8 Columbine Way, Gislingham, Suffolk.
