EDWARDS, Kay Waterfield

As Kay S. Waterfield, she was born in Colombo, Sri Lanka in 1957 and grew up in Bath but had a little art training as a youngster. After leaving school and work, in 1976 she enrolled on an art foundation course at Filton Technical College in Bristol where she took art 'A' level and History of Art 'A' level in the same year and where she began to draw. Kay then attended Loughborough College of Art and Design and gained a B.A. (hons) degree in Fine Art and then studied at the Royal Academy Schools for three years followed by a one-year art teaching certificate at London University Institute of Education. She married at Camden, London in 1985, Christopher Paul L. Edwards, and paints under the name of Kay Waterfield Edwards. In 1997, together with her family, they moved from Hackney, London to Suffolk with her studio at Fir Cottage, Church Street, Stradbroke, Eye, Suffolk. Kay is a member of the Royal Academy Schools East Anglia Group and paints largish figurative pictures in oils, about rural life choosing multiple subjects which reflect the traditions of living in the country, she also paints studio still life, from the environment.
