Issy Coe

As Isabel M. Gorsuch, she was born at Southam, Warwickshire in 1950, daughter of Frank Austin Gorsuch (1914-1987) and his wife Freda M. née Handford (1920-1944), who married at Rugby, Warwickshire in 1939. In 1975, she moved from Northamptonshire to Weybread in Suffolk and married at Eye, Suffolk in 1979, Michael Douglas Coe, and paints under the name of Issy Coe. Her interest in art started as a child when she was always drawing and painting, studying Art and History of Art at A-level, she went on to train as an Occupational Therapist. In 2004, after a weekend art break and several more workshops and painting holidays, she developed her own style of art. Working mainly in watercolour and mixed media she specialises in painting water, boats, landscapes and skies, being inspired by East Anglia, with its beautiful coastline, harbours, and fantastic open skies and the Waveney Valley. Over the last few years Issy has been teaching art classes and running workshops from her studio at Jessamine Cottage, Hoxne Road, Weybread. She has exhibited widely including the Waveney Springs Art Collective and has her works in private collections in the UK, Ireland, USA, Australia, and South Africa and received a 'commended' certificate for her work 'Saturday at Pin Mill' in the Society for All Artists, Artist of the Year Competition in 2009.
