COULING, Jan
As Janet A. Harvey, she was born on the Essex coast. She married at Braintree, Essex in 1977, Antony Couling and paints under the name of Jan Couling. A self-taught artist, painting in watercolours, acrylics and pastels, the subject of her work is varied, from landscapes, boats and seascapes to local historic buildings and animals, having an eye for detail in bringing out the character of animal subjects. Jan does pastel paintings of farmyard animals, wildlife, pets, and a variety of subjects in watercolour and acrylics, with collage and texture. Since 2005, she has been a professional artist also running informal art workshops in her local area. A committee member of the Suffolk Art Society; the Clare Art Club; the Society of East Anglian Watercolourists; The Saffron Walden Art Society; the Cambridge Drawing Society and Suffolk Open Studios from Clare Park Visitor Centre, Malting Lane, Clare, Sudbury, and lives at Swallowdale, Upper Farm Road, Foxes Road, Ashen, Sudbury, in Essex.
