CROMPTON, Holly Jo

As Holly Jo Crompton, she was born at Leicester in 1974, daughter of Ian A. Crompton and his wife Joy S. née Punshon, who married at Leicester in 1971. Holly studied Fine Art at Bath Spa University 1992-1994, gaining a BA Fine Art, Sculpture and at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford 1999-2001 for her Bth, Theology. Holly was a Church of England curate at St Hugh's Lewsey 2001-2004 and married at Norwich in 2004, Revd Simon Crompton-Battersby, chaplain at Culford School, Suffolk, and she works under the name of Holly Crompton. School chaplain at Bedgebury School, Goudhurst 2006-2007 and at Bennett Memorial Diocesan School, Tunbridge Wells 2004-2008. An artist and sculptor, she paints mostly in oils, both on canvas, reclaimed wood and found objects. She lives and works in Suffolk, her paintings are memories and real places, myths and fables, land, sea and sky. A fascination with stories and folklore or ghostly sightings of lost or mythical dogs, results in the reoccurrence of a familiar white dog running wild in lonely landscapes under brooding skies. She has exhibited in galleries in East Anglia including Buckingham Galleries, Southwold and Wingfield Art, Suffolk and sometimes joins in the Suffolk Open Studios.
