GAYWOOD, Madeline Patricia [Paddy]

Madeline Patricia Gaywood, was born at Romford, Essex in 1928, daughter of Charles Zachariah Eric Gaywood (29 February 1904-1986), secretary of an assistance society, and his wife Winifred Edith née Mann [Gaywood q.v.], who married at Romford in 1927 and in 1939 were living at 18 Foxgrove Lane, Felixstowe, Suffolk with Winifred's parents. Madeline married firstly in the Samford district of Suffolk in 1951, Richard Stephen May (1902-1974), a haulage contractor, and secondly at Samford in 1965, Derek H. J. Quinlan and they lived at 1 St Georges Road, Felixstowe. Paddy painted a portrait, now in Felixstowe Museum, of Billy Newson of Felixstowe Ferry who operated from Old Felixstowe where a bench was placed in his memory which overlooks the estuary and the shingle bar at the mouth of the river Deben.
