Marjoke Henrichs

Born in Haarlem, The Netherlands, in 1955. Studied Fine Art & Textile at DWitte Leli, Amsterdam 1975-1981, post graduate at Jan van Eyk Academy, Maastricht 1981-1983 and post graduate Theatre Design Art at Riverside Studios (Motley) London 1983-1984. A painter, photographer, illustrator and theatre designer, her work is inspired by nature's landscapes, being intrigued by the story to be seen in rock, soil, vegetation and water that marks the relationship. She uses inkjet photographs as a painting medium, combined with acrylic paint, soft pastels and plaster, her earlier work often contained writing as part of the image. Over the years her work has become more abstract with her most recent series on panel are sparse, exploring the essence of the subject matter in a direct way. She has exhibited in Suffolk at The Garage Space, Harkstead; The Crabtree, Hadleigh; Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich; Bury St Edmund's Gallery; Blackthorne Barns, Rougham; Folkes-Miller Fine Art, Long Melford; Halesworth Art Gallery; The Frame Workshop, Ipswich; John Russell Gallery, Ipswich and elsewhere in the county and has also exhibited at Mall Galleries, London; Advice Arcade, Norwich; Royal College of Art, London; Theatre Museum Covent Garden, London and in 1995 in the British Stage Design exhibition in Prague which won the Gold Medal. Currently a theatre designer. artist and book illustrator living in the Shotley Peninsula near Ipswich and donated to the 'Westhall Secret Postcard Auction' in 2013 'As seen from Above'.
