Marilyn Jackson

As Marilyn A. Lamb, she was born at Woodford, Essex in 1948, daughter of Leslie Thomas Lamb (1920-1995) and his wife Joan A. née Wells, who married at Woodford Bridge Essex in 1943. Marilyn married at Redbridge, Essex in 1969, Robert P. Jackon and paints under the name of Marilyn Jackson. She studied at Goldsmiths College gaining a Certificate in Education, Anglia Ruskin for a diploma, University of East London for a Certificate in Fine Art and at Cambridge for a Master degree. Marilyn has spent most of her life in Essex living and teaching in Redbridge and West Essex until her retirement in 2007 when she came to Suffolk and set up her own practice and is also a guide at the Sainsbury Centre for the Visual Arts UEA in Norwich. She paints in mixed media also in acrylic, collage, digital art, drawing, etching, printmaking and lino prints and her work is rooted in observations of the natural and made world. Compositions develop through the creative interplay of idea and media that are constantly questioned and evaluated throughout the progress of the work. A member of Suffolk Open Studios from The Old Dairy Studios, Hungate Lane, Beccles also a member of Old Dairy Studios Beccles and exhibits at Swan House, Pond Gallery Snape and Aldeburgh Gallery. www.marilynjacksonart.co.uk
