KNOX, Bernadette Marie

1913 - 2002

Bernadette Marie Knox was born at Lewisham, London on 18 January 1913, daughter of Andrew Knox (1884-), a securities clerk for the Anglo Egyptian Bank, and his wife Hilda Marion Peck (27 October 1885-15 June 1990), who was born in Southwold, and she married at Croydon in 1912 and in 1921 they were living at 13 Courtney Road, Croydon, Surrey. In 1939, Bernadette was a bookkeeper at Southwold Town Hall, living at 41 High Street, Southwold, Suffolk with her widowed mother Hilda and sibling Desiree Marion Knox, (21 January 1916-20 June 1991). As Bernadette Marie Knox, she married at Southwold in 1946, Eric John Percy Beavan (11 July 1910-28 October 1965), an ironmonger, and they lived at 15 Halesworth Road, Reydon, Southwold. An amateur artist who painted a portrait of Ernest George Naunton, Town Clerk of Southold 1920–1945, now in Southwold Museum. Bernadette Marie Beavan died in the Great Yarmouth district on 29 November 2002.
