Lindsay Mayhew

As Lindsay A Hutchinson, she was born in Lancashire in 1963, daughter of Dennis Hutchinson and his wife Barbara C. née Wild, who married at Lancaster in 1958 and spent her childhood in rural Lancashire and Cumbria. Lindsay studied textile design at Goldsmiths College of Art in London and had a career within the industry spanning 25 years. Her inspiration is primarily botanical art, and with the development of modern technology, has been able to fuse the painting qualities of her studies with printed textiles. This may be a starting point for a repeat pattern that are used to create beautiful silk scarves and linen cushions, images for greeting cards and giclee prints or original watercolour paintings. She married at Kendal in 1998 Simon C. Maynard and now works under the name of Lindsay Maynard. In 2001, together with her family moved to rural Herefordshire and then to rural Suffolk where with an abundance of flora and fauna, from woodland walks to hedgerows and formal gardens which she aims to realise in her paintings and products. A member of Suffolk Open Studios from her studio at Brooklands, Duke Street, Hintlesham, Ipswich. She has exhibited at Art Unequalled, the Atheneum in Bury St Edmund's, Suffolk; Burghley Game and Country Fair, Stamford, Lincolnshire and Country Landowners Game Fair, Blenheim Palace. www.lindsaymaynard.co.uk
