GORDON, Frances Robena

1843 - 1902

As Frances Robina Twiname, she was born at Liverpool and baptised on 26 June 1843, daughter of John Gillert Twiname and his wife Elizabeth née Gordon. She married Captain George James Gordon, adjutant of the 1st Suffolk Rifle Volunteers who was born at Nizampoore, East Indies. In 1881 they were living at Pettistree, Suffolk with their 2 year old daughter, Frances Margaret Violet, who was born at Bury St Edmundís and they kept three servants. In 1882 she exhibited at Ipswich Fine Art Club when of Broke Hall, Nacton, near Ipswich, an oil painting 'Shoeblack'. Her husband died at Ipswich in 1884, aged 44 and buried at St Andrew church burial ground, Rushmere, near Ipswich and Frances followed in 1902.
