WHALEY, Malcolm John

1938 - 1988

Born at 23 Avondale Road, Lowestoft, Suffolk on 25 November 1937, son of Stanley John Whaley (25 April 1905-1983), a blacksmith's striker, and his wife Evelyn née Hales (14 August 1908-1988), who married at Lowestoft in 1932. He married at Lowestoft in 1958, Norma P Sidwell (born 1938). An amateur painter who painted mostly aircraft and shipping with examples in the Norfolk & Suffolk Aviation Museum and the Lowestoft & East Suffolk Maritime Museum. He died in the Great Yarmouth district in 1988 and a birdhide was erected in Surlingham Church Marsh Nature Reserve in Norfolk which was donated by the friends of Malcolm J Whaley and opened in January 1989.
