BARNICLE, James

1798 - 1845

James Barnicle was baptised at Ryton-on-Dunsmore, Warwickshire on 15 April 1798, son of Robert Barnicle and his wife Hannah. A landscape and coastal painter who lived in London and travelled all over Britain and France and the Channel Islands 1821-1845 between which times he came to Suffolk making a painting of Orwell Park, Nacton, Ipswich. He married at St Mary's Lambeth on 12 August 1844, Rachel Hart. He exhibited at the Royal Academy, the British Institution and Suffolk Street Galleries in London. James Barnicle died at Westminster, London in 1845. He mostly worked in London and is not a Suffolk Artist.
