DOPITA, Frank

1917 - 1996

Frantisek Ladislau Dopita was born at Olomouc, Czech Republic on 13 October 1917 and in the UK is known as Frank. In 1940, he was living in Marseille, France and he married at Chard, Somerset in 1942, Eileen Margaret Scrivener (11 February 1925-18 July 2019). In 1956 they were living at 13 Laburnham Grove, Southport with three children, Richard born 20 March 1943, Michael born 28 October 1946 and Roseanne born 30 August 1952. A press cutting from the 'Lowestoft Journal' at Suffolk Record Office, Lowestoft records a three-day exhibition of their paintings and murals to celebrate their 'golden wedding' on 12 June 1992, and his painting 'Fishing Boats' is in the collection of Southwold Sailors' Reading Room, but no work by Eileen Dopita has yet been uncovered. Frank Ladislau Dopita died at Southwold, Suffolk in 1996 and in 2013 his wife Eileen Margaret Dopita was living at 2 Pightle Close, Royston, Hertfordshire where she died on 18 July 2019.
