STATHAM, Frederick John Nuttall

1880 - 1952

Born on 17 April and baptised at Matlock, Bakewell, Derbyshire on 9 May 1880, son of Luke Robinson Statham (1849-1899), a grocer, and his wife Sarah née Nuttall, who married at Matlock in 1873. In 1881, a newly born was living at Matlock Green, Matlock with his parents 32 year old Luke and 31 year old Sarah, with two sisters Marion J. 5 and Lilian E. 2. He married at Derby Christ Church in 1909, Jessie Louise Hogg (born 2 April 1866)and in 1911, a 30 year old photographer's operator living at 23 Deuchar Street, Newcastle-on-Tyne with his 25 year old wife Jessie and a newly born son Charles Dennis. He served in the East Yorkshire Regiment during the First World War. Frederick painted a picture of The Mill at Barton Mills, Suffolk but whether he was ever a resident in Suffolk or, as a photographer, came to Suffolk to paint has not yet been discovered. In 1939 a photographer, living at 23 Holmfield Road, Leicester with his wife Jessie and Jessie's sister Lillian J. Hogg (born 15 October 1896). He later emigrated to Kenya and died at European hospital Mombasa, Kenya on 28 March 1952.
