Paul Baxter

Born at Ipswich in 1955, son of Arthur James Baxter (1927-2003) and his wife Patricia J. née Thompson, who married at Ipswich in 1954. He married at Ipswich in 1982, Mary R. Lang [Baxter q.v.] and are the parents of Kathryn Louise Baxter (born 1988), glass artist. He had no formal art training and although he spent some time as a student at the Ipswich School of Art he is mostly self-taught. A landscape painter, originally mainly oil and watercolour but is always striving to experiment with colour and technique and is currently experimenting with alcohol inks, including a variety of Star paintings which has enabled him to produce very colourful works, mainly of serene scenes. Now a full time artist living in Trafalgar Close, Ipswich. A regular exhibitor including at Art on the Prom, Felixstowe; Orwell Art Club at Ipswich and Sproughton; The Lions Club at Sproughton and at Needham Market and Ipswich; St. Mary's church, Hadleigh; Needham Market Community Centre and elsewhere.
