Rebecca Alice Pymar was born at Ipswich in 1989, second child of Robert J. Pymar (born 1957) and his wife Judith A. née Eagling, who married at Southwold, Suffolk in 1983. Rebecca was educated at Bungay High School 2002-2007 and studied Fine Art at Loughborough University 2007-2011, graduating B.A. in Fine/Studio Arts. Rebecca takes influence from abstract expressionists including Clifford Still (1904-1980) Barnett Newman (1905-1970) and American realist painter Edward Hopper (1882-1967). Many of the scenes Rebecca depicts are from the seaside town of Southwold and the scenery which scatter the East Coast. The vibrancy, colour and excitement in her paintings create a sense of perspective so the viewer can really sense the size of the buildings and the space around them. Piers, houses, beach huts and other coastal building are important with form, colour and composition cleverly balanced to create stylised and harmonised pieces, paying close attention to the relationship between the sea and the architecture and their surroundings. Her Art Deco style is influenced by travel and advertising posters of the 1920s and 30s and much of the architecture that she depicts is of that era. Rebecca's work is exhibited at House on the Hill Gallery, Chediston, Halesworth; Serena Hall Gallery, Southwold; Gallery 74, Woodbridge and she also exhibits at Art on the Prom, Felixstowe, Suffolk and she now lives in Norwich.
