Annabel Dover

Annabel Frida Dover was born at Liverpool, daughter of John Dover and Kate Eade, Annabel's great uncle was Sir Stanley Robert Marchant. Annabel studied at Newcastle University 1994-1998, gaining a B.A. in Fine Art; the St Martin's School of Art 2000-2002, gaining an M.A. Fine Art; Cambridge University 2002-2003, awarded a Postgraduate Certificate in Education in Art & Design, and at Wimbledon School of Art 2006, gaining a Ph.D. Fine Art. Annabel Dover works in a variety of media, including painting, photography, video, cyanotype, and drawing, and engages the viewer in untold tales of wonder. Her work ranges from archaeological illustration, archaic scientific techniques, and the enthusiasms of a Victorian lady to the theories of Freud and anthropological research. She has had solo exhibitions at Persimmon Gallery, Los Angeles; Rosy Wilde, London; Transition Gallery, London; Coexist and Transition Gallery, London. She has had many mixed exhibitions including at the Royal Academy and locally at University Collection Showcase, Ipswich; Ipswich Art School Gallery and University Campus Gallery, Ipswich and many others throughout the U.K. and abroad including Santorini, Greece; Los Angeles, USA and The Hague, Netherlands. Artist in Residence at Aldeburgh International Poetry Festival; Bury St Edmund's Library, Suffolk and Kettle's Yard, Cambridge and more recently a residency at the British School in Athens. Annabel is a Critical and Historical Studies Lecturer at the Royal College of Art and has work in the collections of University of the Arts, London and Imperial War Museum. Annabel Dover is also an author with her debut novel 'Florilegia', published by Cool Moist Books (2021).
