Hayley Lock

Born in Ipswich in 1966, daughter of Colin C. Lock and his wife Janice Mary née Archer, who married at Ipswich in 1965. She graduated BA (Hons) Fine Art Textiles from Goldsmiths College, University of London in 1989, PGCE in Art & Design from Norwich City College 2003 and then studied at the University of Essex 2010-2012 gaining an MA (with distinction) in Contemporary Art & Professional Practice. A practicing artist in drawing, collage, sculpture, sound and film and is also a lecturer. Hayley appropriates, reimagine and mirror back a pseudo fantastical world where visions are commonplace and imagination is rife, revealing a dark world in perpetual crisis. Hayley is currently working with and under hypnosis in an attempt to re-engage with her practice as an altered self, looking at where the unconscious meets the conscious creating new systemic structures of belief. This work has taken the form of digital images, film, sound, performance and the written word leading to public performances. She has had five solo shows spread across the UK in 2011/12 as part of her project and has exhibited both nationally and internationally in selected group shows and collaborations. She has a home at Eye, Suffolk but lives and works in London.
