WIGGINS, Michael John

Mike Wiggins

When young he developed a certain artistic flair and sold his first paintings at the age of sixteen but his dream of attending art school was not realised. After taking several jobs he settled on the airline industry for some twenty-five years and then in various industries until, in 2002 he realised his artistic creativity. Working in all mediums, including print, and at present concentrating on monochrome drawings in pen and ink, exploring detailed but distorted perceptions of reality, and symbolic work. From the initial idea of shape and form, he allows his work to evolve by continually contemplating the image, then, subconsciously a more defined structure or theme emerges. He exhibited from Sudbury, Suffolk in 2012 at Bury St Edmund's Church Walks when sixty highly regarded professional artists as well as local artists and students generously donated their work and supported by the School of Art, West Suffolk College with all the proceeds going to St Nicholas Hospice Care.
