Caroline Blake

As Caroline Blades, she was born at Bury St Edmund's, Suffolk in 1959 and as Caroline Duffety married at Bury St Edmund's in 2003, Nigel Vincent Blake (born 1959) and paints under the name of Caroline Blake. A schoolteacher and a self-taught artist, being inspired by her maternal grandfather, who was a member of the Royal Academy, and her work depicts impressionistic style vividly coloured trees and plants using acrylics and mixed media featuring vibrant pearlescent or fluorescent colours, embellished with crystal gems, beads and glitter also using tissue paper and other mediums to make sumptuous and beautifully textured effects that catch the light. She exhibits regularly in Suffolk art galleries including with the local March Hare Collective group and is a member at exhibitor at The Bury St Edmunds Art Society; the Apex Art Gallery, Bury St Edmunds and elsewhere. A commissioned piece of glass artwork taken from an original painting by Caroline’s was unveiled by Lady Elsie Robson, the widow of Sir Bobby Robson, named 'Felicitree' a vibrant and upbeat impressionistic work, which now resides in The Lady Robson Breast Care Unit at the West Suffolk Hospital.
