HAVERGAL, Eveline Mary

1869 - 1931

As Eveline Mary Barrett, she was born at Grove Lodge, Upton cum Chalvey, Slough, Buckinghamshire on 25 December 1869, daughter of Richard Henry Barrett, a solicitor, and his wife Emily née Leake, who married at Slough in 1868. She married at Eton, on 22 June 1898, Revd Clement Havergall (1858-1942) and in 1901 the 31 year old wife of 43 year clergyman of Brewer’s Green, Roydon, Diss, Norfolk. They then moved to Brent Eleigh Rectory, Suffolk from where, as Eveline Havergal, she exhibited a miniature painting at the Royal Academy in 1909. Eveline died at Weymouth, Dorset in January 1931. She had three children, Frances Mary de Draycott (1899-1987), Helen Grace Beatrice (1901-1980), both born at Roydon and Christopher Ridley (1907-2005), born at Brent Eleigh.
