Alfred John Carpenter was born at Ipswich in 1989, son of Michael Carpenter and his wife Catharine née Scott and raised in rural Suffolk. As a youngster, Alfie as he is known, had two loves, music, and art and in 2008 completed a music degree at Leeds College of Music, specialising in singing and composition. Alfie addresses both music and art with a similar ethos not allowing specific inspirations directly influence an outcome but aims to tackle artistic projects with an instinctive mindset, which processes creep into his landscapes and portraits helping to bring out a consistency across his artwork. Alfie is generous with colour and pattern, especially when interpreting the embellishments in landscapes, rows of crops, tractor trails, hedgerows, hay bales and pylons, whatever catches his attention. A member of Artworks from 46 High Street, Stowmarket, Suffolk and has exhibited at Riverside Art and Glass, Wroxham, Norfolk; Wymondham Art Society, Norfolk; The Wonky Wheel Gallery, Finchingfield, Essex; Ejart Creative, Hasketon, Suffolk; the Frame Workshop & Gallery, Ipswich; The Quay Gallery, Snape Maltings; Linton Art, Cambridgeshire; Spiral Gallery, Debenham, Suffolk and in October 2018 from Norwich, at St Mary's Church, Debenham six acrylic paintings.
