ABLITT, Edward

c.1809 - 1866

Born at Ipswich about 1809. A founder member of the Ipswich Society of Professional & Amateur Artists in 1832, where he was probably tutored by Henry Davy [q.v.]. In 1851, an unmarried 42 year old 'fund holder & house proprietor', lodging at Carr Street, Ipswich, the home of 57 year old widower William Haxell, master dyer. He died at Ipswich in 1866, aged 57.
