HARCOURT, Frederick
Frederick Harcourt was born at Ipswich on 15 March 1794 and baptised at St Matthew's church, Ipswich on 16 April 1794, son of John Harcourt (1767-7 July 1846), a gun maker, and his wife Mary Ann née Barker (1769-1836). Frederick married at St Mary le Tower Church, Ipswich on 18 December 1821, Mary Ann née Pipe, who died on 7 January 1866, aged 65. An ironmonger living at Silent Street, Ipswich with his shop in the Butter Market and was a member of the Ipswich Society of Professional & Amateur Artists from 1835, where he was tutored by Henry Davy. In 1851, a 57-year-old house & land proprietor, living at 6 Norwich Road, Ipswich with his 50-year-old wife Mary Ann and their 18-year-old daughter, Catherine, all born at Ipswich, they also had a son Frederick George baptised 26 February 1823 and other issue. Frederick was of 32 Silent Street, Ipswich when he died on 22 February 1870 and was buried in Ipswich Cemetery on 28 February 1870, aged 75. Several properties from his estate were sold by auction at the Crown and Anchor Hotel in Ipswich on 28 July 1876, including those in Tavern Street, Silent Street and Carr Street, Ipswich.
