BURRELL, Catherine [or Katherine] Matilda

1847 - 1930

As Catherine Matilda Halls, she was baptised at Denham, Suffolk on 8 August 1847, daughter of Joseph Edwin Halls, a farmer, and his wife Matilda née Stutter, who married at Bury St Edmund's in 1845. She married at Saffron Walden, Essex on 11 December 1873, Robert Burrell (1834-1923). In 1881 a 33 year old, living at 3 Honey Hill, Bury St Edmund's with her 46 year old husband Robert, a chemical manufacturer & land-owner, who was born at Westley St Mary, near Bury St Edmund's. As Mrs R. Burrell she exhibited 'The Stepping-Stones' at the Bury & West Suffolk Fine Art Society in 1881. By 1891 her husband, a land-owner, had taken over the family estate and they were living at Westley Hall and were still living there in 1911. Her husband died at Westley in 1923 and by now as Katherine Matilda, she died at Bury St Edmund's in 1930, aged 83, they had no issue.
