Peta Hillier

Peta-Jane Hillier was born at St Pancras, London in 1955, daughter of Alan Bernard J. Hillier (30 September 1914-1979), a heating engineer, and his wife Betty Margaret née Hurley (21 July 1918-28 July 1987), who married at Uxbridge, London in 1938 and in 1939 were living at 4 Tithe Walk, Hendon, Middlesex. Peta-Jane married at Bury St Edmund's, Suffolk in 1993, Duncan R. Skeels, but continued to paint under her maiden name of Peta-Jane Hillier. Her landscape paintings are inspired by the Suffolk countryside and in particular, the woodlands and coastal footpaths. Behind her work is her environmental concern about the countryside and Peta, instigated an art project utilising the Heritage Woods, which included pupils from Shotley Primary School who created their own works, which received a Shotley Village Community Award in 2015. Peta exhibited with Holywells Creatives and at Prettys Art in Ipswich in 2015, when she was living with her family at East Bergholt, Suffolk.
