JACKSON, Henry
Henry Jackson was born at Elmswell, Suffolk in 1846, third and youngest son of Isaac Jackson (1797-7 November 1869), a farmer of Woolpit, and his wife Mary née Fletcher (1806-1867), of Moulton, who married at Stow, Suffolk on 23 October 1839. In 1851, Henry was a 4-year-old, living at 3 Priory Street, Ipswich with his parents, 52-year-old Isaac, born at Dennington, Suffolk and 45-year-old Mary, born at Burrough Green, Cambridgeshire and his two older siblings, Charles 10, born at Woolpit and Robert Fletcher 7, born at Elmswell. He married at St Matthew's Church, Ipswich on 28 May 1868, Emma Wood (1845-1827), eldest daughter of Charles Wood of Clopton, and in 1871 a 25-year-old stone mason, living at Norwich Road, Ipswich with his 26-year-old wife Emma, and their 2-year-old son Charles. In 1881, a 34-year-old sculptor, living at 23 Rendlesham Road, Ipswich with his 35-year-old wife Emma, who was deaf, and their four children, Charles 11, Flora 9, Ellen 6 and newly born Frederick, all born at Ipswich. In 1885 he exhibited at the Ipswich Fine Art Club from 54 Rendlesham Road, Ipswich, a pair of sculptures ‘A Consenting Couple’ (525/533). In 1891, a ‘monument sculptor’ at 145 Cemetery Road, Ipswich. Henry Jackson died at Ipswich in 1900, aged 54.
