TURNER, Jessie

1873 - 1965

Born at Little Ellingham Rectory, Norfolk on 23 May 1873, daughter of Revd Samuel William Turner (1834-1894), clerk in holy orders, and his wife Emily Arabella Francis Maria née Aldis (2 September 1836-1917), who married at St George's Hanover Square, London on 28 February 1859. In 1891, a 17 year old living at The Rectory, Church Street, Little Ellingham with her parents, 56 year old Samuel and 54 year old Emily, and six siblings, Constance 27, born in China, Ethel 24, Gertrude 20, Laura 19, Beatrice 15 and Charles W. A. 11. Her father died at Little Ellingham in November 1894 and in 1911 Jessie had moved to Redholme, Westerfield Road, Ipswich with her widowed mother. She exhibited at the Ipswich Fine Art Society from 119 St Helen's Street, Ipswich in 1927 a watercolour 'Grey Day, St Leonards-on-Sea'. In 1939 living on private means at 55 Christchurch Street, Ipswich and she died at Ipswich in 1965, she was unmarried.
