WALTON, Elizabeth

1746 - 1828

As Elizabeth Rust, she was born at Wortham, Suffolk in 1746, second daughter of the ten children of Robert Rust, a draper of Wortham, and his wife Elizabeth Russell, daughter of John Russell of Otley, Suffolk. As Elizabeth Rust, she was married by licence by her brother-in-law Revd Robert Malyn of Occold, at Wortham, Suffolk on 10 September 1771, to artist Henry Walton. Elizabeth was a miniature painter and shortly after their marriage, they purchased Oak Tree Farm, in the village of Burgate, near Wortham, where he converted one of the cottages into a house and studio. Elizabeth Walton was buried beside her husband at St Mary's Church, Brome, Suffolk on 31 March 1828, they had no issue.
