Evan Edwards was born at Send, Surrey on 3 October 1879, son of Evan Edwards and his wife Eliza Catherine Hilder (1854-21 February 1938), fourth daughter of Edward Hilder of Hoe Bridge, Woking who married at Mission Chapel, Cartbridge, Woking, Surrey on 1 March 1877. In 1891, young Evan was an 11-year-old, living at Queenscliff, Stone Lodge Lane, Ipswich with his parents 37-year-old Evan, 'living on own means', and 36-year-old Eliza with four siblings, Catherine 12, born in Send, with Christopher 9, Mary Isobel 8 and Donald 4, all born at Guildford, Surrey. In 1939, an unmarried 'surveyor to Lloyds Register', living at 7 Harbour Villas, Felixstowe Ferry, Suffolk. He exhibited at the Ipswich Art Club from 7 Harbour Villas, Felixstowe Ferry, Felixstowe in 1941, two works 'Shipyard No. 262-The First Coat' and 'Mid-Day Sun, Flatford Mill and Manor', in 1942 'Suffolk Landscape' and 'Scotch Harbour', in 1943 two oils 'In Berkshire' and 'A Hurry Up Job', in 1944 'Cleared Area', 'Cottages, Falkenham', 'Too Early Spring Flowers', 'Cinema' and 'Rearranging the Living Room'. Evan Edwards died at Cartway Cottage, Falkenham, near Felixstowe on 25 January 1951, aged 68, he was unmarried.
