STEWARD, Florence Mary

1883 - 1971

As Florence Mary Syme, she was born at Cawnpore, Bengal, India on 26 September and baptised at St Mary, Benares on 13 October 1883, daughter of Charles Mulock Syme and his wife Florence Theresa née Bidwell, who married at Benares in 1882. She married at Kussowle, Bengal, India on 2 September 1907, Edward Merevale Steward (5 February 1881-1947), later a major-general in the army. In 1939 she was living with her husband at The Lodge, Caistor St Edmund, Norfolk and as Mrs E. M. Steward exhibited at the Ipswich Art Club in 1941 two paintings 'Watermouth Cave' and 'The Old Barn'. She died at Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk in 1971.
