BREWER, John Edward

1868 - 1931

John Edward Brewer, was born at Victoria, Australia on 13 July 1868, son of John Brewer (1838-1914) and his wife Elizabeth Geraldine Byng née Scott (1844-1907). He first studied at Lewes, Sussex, moving to live at Downs Cottage, Epsom, Surrey in April 1899. Brewer married secondly on 16 June 1900, Edith, the sister of William and Arthur Nightingall and on 22 June 1900, returned to Australia with his wife. Brewer later returned to England as was a trainer for Park Lodge, Newmarket where he was living in 1911, but seems to have returned to Australia again, as in the same year Brewer, in partnership with Richard Wootton, purchased the stud at the Kiscatoo Station, on the Lachlan river, N.S.W. He died at Melbourne, Australia on 14 April 1931. (Racehouse Traning at Epsom by Bill Eacott.)
