WALKER, Cyril Walpole

1892 - 1964

Cyril Walpole Walker was born at Smallburgh, North Walsham, Norfolk on 16 September 1892, second son of Albert Walker (c1861-21 April 1929), grocer & cycle agent, and his wife [Nellie] Ellen Jane née Marjoram (14 February 1965-9 December 1939), who married at North Walsham on 26 December 1888 and in 1901, were living at Market Place, Smallburgh with three children, Harry 9, Cyril 8 and Lucy 5. In 1911, Cyril was an 18-year-old bank clerk, lodging at Belmont, Selworthy Crescent, Cheam, Surrey, the home of the Carter family. He served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Norfolk Regiment during the First World War and married at Wandsworth, London in 1918, Ethel Theresa née Corney (14 July 1892-1960), a nurse. In 1939, Cyril was a bank manager, living at 62 High Street, Lowestoft, Suffolk with his wife Ethel and two daughters, Jean (born 12 July 1919) and Pamela (born 8 February 1922). An exhibitor at the first exhibition of the current Lowestoft Art Group in St John's Church Hall, Lowestoft in 1960 'R. N. Memorial, Lowestoft' and 'Old Flemish House, Kersey'. Cyril Walpole Walker died at 9 Wellington Esplanade, Lowestoft on 21 September and was buried in Kirkley Cemetery, Lowestoft on 25 September 1964.
