Nina Roffey

Nina C. Roffey studied fine art as a mature student gaining her B.A. (hons) degree at Stoke-on-Trent College in 1986 followed by studies at the University of East Anglia (UEA) 1988-1990. Nina initially painted in oils before taking up collage and assemblages on found wood, which may give her an idea for a subject and with other pieces, a subject may come to mind. Much of the wood used is driftwood from riverbanks and the beach and with these raw materials she fashions images related to place, history, other artists, myths, and legends, often authoring books to accompany her larger or more complex pieces of work. A retired teacher, in 1999 Nina began tutoring at 'The Works' in Beccles. Her work has been exhibited in galleries in Stoke-on-Trent; Colchester; Bury St Edmund's with solo exhibitions at The Raveningham Gallery, Norfolk; Contact Gallery, Norwich; The Quay in Sudbury; Halesworth Gallery at Steeple End, Halesworth; Aldeburgh Gallery, Aldeburgh and at the Norwich Festival, ‘Greek Echoes’. A member of Waveney & Blyth Arts, Easterly Artists and a former member of Suffolk Open Studios from her studio at 52 Park Drive, Worlingworth, Beccles, Suffolk.
