CROFT, Georgiana

1805 - 1889

Georgiana Cuyler, was born at Welwyn, Hertfordshire on 21 October and baptised on 20 December 1805, youngest and fifth daughter of the seven children of General Sir Cornelius Cuyler (1740-1819), 1st Bart., governor of Portsmouth, and his wife Anne (1766-1815), daughter of Major Richard Grant, who married in 1786. Georgiana married on 1 January 1835, Revd Stephen Croft [q.v.] of St Mary Stoke, Ipswich and in 1851 were living at Rabs Row, Saint Mary Stoke, Ipswich with there three children, Emily Johnes 13, Henry Herbert Stephen 9 and Mary Louise 6, all born at Ipswich and they retained six indoor servants. Georgiana and her husband are listed as art pupils of Henry Bright [q.v.] between 1836-1856. She died at Scotsbridge House, Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire on 6 April 1889, aged 83.
