BAXENDALE, Basil Francis

1890 - 1965

Basil Francis Baxendale, was born at Framfield Place, Sussex on 19 February 1890, son of Francis Hugh Baxendale (2 July 1862-1918), a director of Pickford Ltd., carriers, and his wife Emily Ann née Nichols, who married at Cambridge in 1883. During the First World War he served as an officer in the Royal Naval Reserves and awarded an O.B.E. in 1919. Basil married at Chelsea, London in 1925, Amy Beatrice Grasby (13 February 1897-1974). In 1930, an artist living at 60 Oswald House, Northgate, Beccles, Suffolk. His wife is also noted as an artist but no further information has yet been noted on this couple. Basil died at White Lodge, Monkwood Ropley, Hampshire on 11 September 1965 and Amy died at Swan Hotel, Alresford, Hampshire on 14 October 1974.
