Mark Goldsworthy

Alan Mark Goldsworthy, was born in Wood Green, London on 30 September 1962, son of Alan H. Goldsworthy and his wife Pauline A. née Whitehorn, who married at Edmonton, London in 1961. Mark grew up in East Anglia and was educated at Wymondham College, Norfolk 1974-1981 and studied at Great Yarmouth College of Art & Design 1981-1982 and at Manchester Polytechnic 1983-1986, taking a BA (hons) Fine Art. In 1987 he leased and managed group studios St Mary's Works, Norwich where he also gave art instruction, during which time he also travelled to South Africa and made visits to the USA and New York galleries. A figurative style based on sound drawing and heightened colour was prevalent in his early large scale works, painting stage set for The Rolling Stones World Tour in 1994, before a move to a series of figures in fields of colour and stronger definition, the direct influence of experiments with sculpture. Latterly his paintings have become much smaller and introspective. His work has been shown on Anglia Television and has appeared in arts reviews in the 'Guardian', and regularly in the 'Eastern Daily Press'. Mark has exhibited in London, Norway, France, Austria, USA and South Africa and work is held in private collections in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Austria, Holland, Italy, Switzerland, USA, Canada, South Africa. He married in 2001, Janette M. Graham, an art therapist, and is now based in the Suffolk market town of Bungay. http://goldsworthy.co.uk
