KINGDON, James Charter

1863 - 1951

Born on 27 December 1873 and baptised at St Stephen, Exeter on 17 January 1864, son of Francis Kingdon, a laboratory assistant, and his wife Elizabeth Caroline née Henderson, who married at Exeter on 29 April 1852. By 1871 the family had moved to Camp Street, Broughton, Salford, Lancashire where 7 year old James was living with his parents, 49 year old Francis and 42 year old Elizabeth, with siblings Frank Henderson 11 and Nannie Elizabeth 5. He married at Dartford, Kent in 1908, Alice Hilda née Gobbitt (20 February 1878-1965) and in 1911 was a 47 year old married chemist pharmacist living at Osmon Villa, Belle Grove, Bexley, Kent with his 82 year old widowed mother Elizabeth. In 1939 a retired artist living at The Grove, Rendham, Saxmundham, Suffolk with his wife and and daughter Joan Phyllis Kingdon (16 December 1912-2003), a poultry farmer who was born at Rendham. James died at Rendham in 1951 and his wife followed in 1965.
