LEVETT-PRINSEP, Anthony

1908 - 1983

Thomas Francis Anthony Levett-Prinsep, known as Anthony, was born at Shenstone, Litchfiedld, Staffordshire on 14 March 1908, son of Thomas Arthur Levett-Prinsep, a land-owner, and his wife Margaret Noel née Simpson, who married at Totnes, Devon on 9 April 1907. He may have married before 1939, Madeline Isobel A. Fraser (22 April 1904-1999) as in 1939 was a married artist, living at Fir Tree House, Snape, Aldeburgh, Suffolk with a married Madeline Isobel Levett-Prinsep (22 April 1904-1999). Painter, illustrator and sculptor who studied at the Central School of Art working in Suffolk, London and Devon. Anthony was influenced by Modigliani and Bonnard and African Art and The Tate holds his self-portrait. He had exhibitions at the Leicester and Beaux Arts Galleries amongst others. He died in 1983.
