WEBB, Gwen Lindsay

1913 - 1990

As Gwen Lindsay Scott, she was born at Edmonton, London on 9 January 1913, twin daughter of Lindsay Scott (1884-1939), a specialist poultry breeder, and his wife Jessie Winifred née Simpson (2 September 1887-26 February 1960), only daughter of Capt. Alexander Simpson of Muswell Hill, who married at the Congregational Church, Muswell Hill on 31 March 1909. In 1921, 8-year-old Gwen was living at The Bungalow, Worlington, Mildenhall, Suffolk with her parents 37-year-old Lindsay and 33-year-old Jessie and her twin sister 8-year-old Winifred Lindsay. In 1939, Gwen was an artist, illustrator of book jackets, living at 49 Sicklesmere Road, Bury St Edmund's, Suffolk with her widowed mother Jessie. She married at Hampstead Parish Church, London on 8 June 1940, Kenneth Robert Webb (5 July 1906-1988) only son of Robert Edmond Webb of Timber Close, Berkhamstead. Gwen Lindsay Webb died at 35 Kings Road, Berkhamstead, Hertfordshire on 9 November 1990.
