HUTTON, Richard

1844 - 1903

Born at Newcastle-on-Tyne, Northumberland in 1844. In 1861 a 16 year old, one of the many pupils at a school at High Street, Uppingham, Rutland kept by Revd Robert J Hodgkinson and his family and in 1871 a 26 year old 'animal painter' living at Low Road, Carlton on Trent, Southwell, Nottinghamshire with a servant. In 1881 a 35 year old 'artist landscape painter' lodging at 95 Risbygate Street, Bury St Edmund's, Suffolk, the home of 66 year old widow Sarah Beard and others. He married at Kensington, London in 1881, Hannah Metcalfe, of Bury St Edmund's, and in 1891 a 45 year old landscape painter living at Hospital Road, Bury St Edmund's with his 30 year old wife Hannah, and children Florence A. 8, born Nottingham, Gertrude Mary 7 and Maud V. 4, both born at Ealing, London and Richard 2, born Bury St Edmund's. By 1901 they had moved to 3 St Andrew's Street, Bury St Edmund's with additional children Edith M. 6 and Robert C. 4, both born at Bury St Edmund's. Richard died at Bury St Edmund's in 1903.
