THOMPSON, Lucy

1864 - ?

Born at Ipswich in 1864, son of William Thompson, seedsman, and his wife Elizabeth Lucy née Fisher, who married at Yoxford, Suffolk in 1860. In 1871 a 7 year old living at 34-36 Tavern Street, Ipswich the home of her 74 year old grandmother, a confectioner, with parents 47 year old William and 43 year old Elizabeth with siblings, Kate E. 9, Jessie 8 and Sydney 4, all born in Ipswich; together with two shop assistants and two servants and ten years later were still living at this address. In 1880 she passed as excellent, certificate and awarded a prize at the Ipswich School of Science & Art for her freehand drawing. She married at Ipswich in 1898, Cecil Grant and in 1901 a 37 year old school-mistress at Main Street, Keswick, Cumbria but by 1911 had moved on to St George's School, Carlton Road, Harpenden, Hertfordshire.
