LONGE, Louisa Roberta

1842 - 1931

Born at Easton, Suffolk in 1842, daughter of Revd Henry Browne Longe (1803-1883), rector of Easton and later of Monewden, both in Suffolk, and his wife Anne Mary née Nicholson (1813-1910). In 1871 as rector of Monewden, Henry was living at Copt Hall Place, Folkestone, Kent with his wife and four daughters. Louisa was a watercolour landscape painter who exhibited at the Ipswich Fine Art Club from Copt Hall Place, Folkestone 1890-1893, six works including ‘A Lane at Brockenhurst’, ‘Christchurch Priory, Hants’, and some Suffolk views. In 1901, mother Anne, with daughters Louisa and Rosa, were living at 10 Victoria Grove, Folkestone and following the death of their mother Anne in 1910, Louisa and Rosa moved to 5 Connaught Road, Folkestone where Louisa died in 1931, aged 89, she was unmarried.
